    Microsoft, VMware Battle Clouded By Licensing Claims



    Microsoft revved up its cloud marketing message on Monday after VMware made some licensing changes in July.

    The spat, largely focused on the costs of tapping virtualization infrastructure, is nothing new as Microsoft strives to chip away at VMware's first-to-market lead. Microsoft's economic argument against VMware is now distilled into a white paper published this month, entitled "Microsoft Private Cloud: A Comparative Look at Functionality, Benefits and Economics," which can be downloaded from Microsoft's new Server and Cloud Platform portal.

      Broken link. But if cost is an issue why not go with an OS solution...

      I just read something along the same lines over on the reg, reading some of the comments were interesting as well.
