I intend dual run xp and vista and have my saves on a second drive, but at the moment I only have one hard drive.

So I imtend to image my current xp set up, wipe the drive, install a second drive then install xp and vista on one then put the file saves etc on the second drive.

    Would that work?

Are you wanting to retore the whole image or just the files from it?

Edit: No mention of restoring the image in the OP.

Yeah, you can still do that.

*Image the drive (say to an external HD)
    *Install new HD
    *Restore Image
*Install Vista on a seperate partition so now you have a dual boot system.
*Restore files onto the second drive
    *Have a beer (optional)
