As the title mentions, this is a Work in progress, its just a place I can document my progress as I go through it, it is subject to change, it could fail and I start again, who knows, I recommend not following along completly till I have renamed the title, ie i got it working :D

    All working now :)

The First 3 steps will be performed in 4bit colour, this is normal, but a pain!

    Required Steps

    Step 1:
    Create the guest machine
    512MB Ram
20 GB Hard disk (I used 10gb, worked fine)
    Bridged Networking

    Step 2:
Boot up with the Longhorn Beta 1 DVD in the drive, or the ISO mounted to vmware
installation will start, when you get to the disk partitioning screen press SHIFT+F10
use the diskpart utility to create a partition and format it with NTFS, reboot

    Step 3:
Press ESC during boot and select CDROM as the boot device
select your now formatted disk as the installation destination
    continue through the install..

    Step 4:
    Right, the exciting part
all of the above was done in 4bit colour, as VMWare emulates a pretty rudimentary gfx card, so if you have a hard time reading the text, it can be a challange, we can change that now!
In VMWare goto your 'Install VMWare Tools' button, it wont autorun, so navigate to the CDRom and run setup
Reboot after all thats installed, for full graphical glory (not really, no transparancy)
you will find no network connetivity, do the 'Install VMWare tools' again, just to mount the CD
goto device manager and install the network drivers

    Optional Steps:

    Step 5:
As you can see from the link below, I'm editing this post from Windows Vista Beta 1 :) (in IE7 no less)
Good luck with it for those of you who have it! :)

    Step 6:
    Install Firefox :P
    Grab your extensions, enjoy!

    VM Quirks:

A few things I have noticed
    - Mouse movement between VM and Host is working
    - Copy and Paste doesnt seem to be (between host and guest)

    Longhorn Quirks:
    - Cant connect to SAMBA shares, biggest downer so far!
