Whats the difference between an Authoritative and a Unauthoritative Restore?

Ah thanks that was a good explanation, but what is a non Authoritative restore used for then?

And also how do you configure the restore of active directory to use either of these restore options?

    Thanks

The opposite of an authoritative restore. When you simply need to repair AD on that DC. If the rest of the domain is functioning correctly then the DC you are repairing will get it's AD info updated during the next replication cycle.

Much easier to post a link than type it all out!
