I was recently asked by someone what is the best software for backing up Exchange Server, in all of the companies I worked at we always used Symantec but from experience we always had problems with it. It will go for a few weeks or a month or two and then it starts failing and have to be played with to get working again.

What backup software would you suggest for regular backups of Exchange Server (please no NTBackup as the answer).

    Thanks,

I actually would say Veritas (Symantec) myself. I've been using it for the last few years on Exchange 5.5 and currently on Exchange 2003, with no problems.

I have to say the same as Ken, been using Veritas for a couple of years on Exchange 2003, with no problems as yet! :)

What they said :biggrin Version 11 is quite good and cheap if you buy OEM with a new server.

I've been using Brightstor Arcserve for the last 10 years (11.5 is current version) and never had any real problems... The Exchange backup software is an add on (Extra cost). Also used it twice to restore after server failures and found it quick and painless.

Thanks guys, I'm going to suggest my friend just go with Symantec.

We use Veritas here at work and yes you do get the occasional problem, but no backup software is 100% fail proof!
