    Hi,

I'm new to Website designing & Programming and I'm using ASP.NET. I would like to know whether there other good platforms for doing the same besides ASP.Net 2.0.

Theres as many web app dev platforms as you can shake a stick at :-

    flex,coldfusion,php,perl,cgi,c,Rails,Grails,Java/JSP,WebObjects,Python.

Sure I've missed a few, really depends whether you want a framework, library, toolset, language etc. With most other languages you can mix and match.

In the .Net world ASP.Net tends to mean two things, the presentation tier templating language and the web framework. There are many different presentation tier technologies, Velocity, XSLT, JSP, ASP, ASP.Net, JSF, Tapestry, Facelets, SiteMesh, PHP. There are also many web frameworks, there is some overlap so the distinction isn't always clear, JSF, Tapestry, Wicket, Grails, Ruby on Rails, Web Objects, ASP .Net, PHP.

And I haven't even gone into Rich Internet Apps and all the emerging technology there...

Theres no one right or wrong technology in general...
