With my crazy week in Vegas (17 hours total sleep since Friday night) I forgot to pass along some good news
Today at lunch time I sat and passed my VCP410 meaning I finally become a VCP after 9 years with VMware products, to say I am chuffed is a bit of an understatement

The exam, like the older incarnations is still a PITA and has some of the dumbest questions i've seen in exams, but I passed, so I'm happy

My week in vegas has got me the VCP as well as 3 partner accreditations

    VCP 4.0
IV Technical Post-Sales Accreditation: Assessment Fundamentals
IV TEchnical Post-Sales Accreditation: Capacity Planner Fundamentals
IV Technical Post-Sales Accreditation: vSphere 4 Design
IV Technical Post-Sales Accreditation: VI3 to vSphere Upgrade
    VSP 4.0 & VSP - Infrastructure Virtualization
    VTSP 4.0 & VTSP - Infrastructure Virtualization

I've been doing 8 hours of sessions pretty much since Saturday AM (after a 68 hour work week) and have then been doing 8 - 10 hour evenings oddly enough ;)

Heading back home tomorrow, bring on the weekend for some much needed R&R

    Bump Bump,

    Can someone explain becoming Vmware Certified for me in idiots terms;

Where do I start? what is the bottom cert and the highest cert? I know it is all done via a course and not self study.

    There is basically 1 cert
there are a few classes you can take to meet the 'course attendance' requirement, but only the vSphere Fast Track comes close to covering all the material required to pass the test, and even then it's a pain in the ass of a test
i frequently get 800 - 900 on my MS certs, often more, but I scraped through barely passing the VCP and i have 9 years experience with their product lines.. its an ASS of a test, not particularly hard, just an ass

I suggest taking the Install and Configure class and doing a lot of hands on at home or something

there is a higher level cert known as the VCDX, there are currently < 40 on the planet, it will likely take me the next two years to pass it, so i wouldn't worry about that too much just yet ;)
