    Hi All

My name is Stewy and found you all by accident. I am doing the CIW with computeach and although they said anyone could do it, passing the damn thing may prove to be different. I have only passed the firts part of the course so far and failed the networking essentials miserabley (67%). After recieveing the next mock for part 2 it is harder than the first. Short of jumping of the nearest bridge, anyone offer any guidence?

Surely i cannot be the only person in this boat?

    Speak soon Stewy

Greetings, Stewy. Welcome to CertForums. Glad you found the place. We'd be glad to help you with your studies (short of cheating that is) :biggrin We do have a networking forum that you can access and post questions on. Let us know what problems you're having and maybe we can be of assistance. It's what we're here for. Cheers.

Hi from me, Stewy - welcome to certForums :D

If you can post some examples of things you don't quite understand, we'll certainly do out best to help (please note, try and avoid posting exact questions from your Provider, as these will most likely be copyright, and we have to watch our backs on this - please see HERE for more details).

Cheer m8 - enjoy your time here :D

Thanks for all the kind words guys, this sounds like a good place to be. Not actually stuck on any individual part as of yet, (although trying to understand the OSI model and its different uses etc is as of yet still a little confusing to say the least) i just feel a bit conned if thats the right word as i wanted to build and design websites and all the work i have done so far is about networking etc. im sure that there is a point, but why am i taking an age to try and pass something i do not want to do and with a pass mark of 90% im just struggling in general. theres my whinge out the way, now back to the books

Stewy, thanx again for the warm welcome and i will be here for sometime

    Hi All

just forgot to mention, i'm doing the CIW course with Computeach? but i have heard some good and lots of bad about them. I paid a lot of money for this course, but opinions on the provider and is there a better way of getting qualified out there

Comments & Views would be most welcome

    Thanx Stewy

Hi Stewy, thought i'd say hello and but in...

I'm doing A+/MCSE with Computeach, and yes alot of people
love to slag them off, but still, a hell of a lot of people end
up with good required qualifications and jobs at the end of
it, and some don't ( you'll usually find the people who say they
are crap are the people who expected everything handed to
them, instead of working for it.)

I've been with them over a year now, and been stuck in very
big ways, and sometimes they've helped and sometimes they
have basically told me to read a section again?????

But in the end, by keeping at it, i've got through and passed
three mock exams with them, and looking forward to going
in centre soon to take my A+ and hopefully pass it

At the end of the day, there mock exam's have very high pass
rates to get you to the next stage, and believe me i've
struggled and banged my head against a wall a few times, but
I now feel that this is required for me to pass the "real" exam
with a certainty of ease rather than just hopefully scraping
    through of "just" doing it.

I'm doing the course in my "spare time" as well as working
approx 80 hrs a week, keeping a home, my wife and daughter
    happy, well fed and cleaned...
( Yes Rosy if your reading this, I may sound like a male
Chauvinist pig at times, but i'm really a very house proud male,
who loves a clean home, and to look after my wife - god i'm
going to be sick,,,,, )

The course is designed to be tough, in reality, if it was piss
easy, then everone would be IT certified and being paid
£70,000 a year for doing nothing, but we all know the reality
of the IT job front, and through forums like this one ( Has to
be said, this is the best one really ) you get to know whats
what, and be with people like you, who may be struggling but
are more than willing to help you through things.

Sorry to gripe on a bit, but been at work for 14 hrs, and it's nice
to let of steam a bit. but hopegully you get the point i'm trying
to make to you. Your in very safe hands here :tune
With a great bunch of guys, and girls who are or have been
all in the same boat as the one we're in now.

    Hope this helps.......Callum

Cazzam, sounds like we are both in that boat IE 80hrs per week, wife (or should i say girlfried with a very big gun tripwire) and lots of other sh*t at the same time. certainly not scared of hard work and i will keep plugging away, i am not looking for an easy ride (well maybe a little) was just looking for some encouragement which i feel i have

Good work guys & gals and i can put the rope away for now until my next mid life crisis

Cheers all, i like it in ere
