First I want to thank Gudrun for pointing me here!

I'm new here, but I'm not new to IT. I'm a US based IT instructor that has been focused on CompTIA.

The sudden change in pricing for CompTIA has been a big shock. I guess it should not susprise me as CompTIA has been more and more out of touch with reality.

CompTIA has never been a player outside the UK and US because the test costs. The recent price increases (dropping discounts) is now pushing the envelope of "entry level" testing and they are not really entry level.

I have been watching an older ORG called the eta-i.org for a few years. They are a by geeks for geeks group. My discussions with them has revealed they are quite willing to take their tests and price according to what can be afforded outside the UK-US market. (And for us, $75 for the A+ functional equal isn't that bad).

Their USD membership is $25. a year. If you have your A+ you can roll over to a Computer Service Tech. for $30 and that includes your 1st year membership. (Network+ roll over to CNST is $50).

I am asking for a grass roots movement to join the ETA-I.org As I have said @ http://snipurl.com/SaveAFrog I am trying to get to 100,000 members in a little less than a year.

We can get there. Motorola has asked all its geeks to take their wireless test. Look for other larger players to be using the ETA-I and not certifications that are not affordable and unfair. Fiber folks. Did you know they have a fiber optics test?

Please take a look and judge for yourself. TIA

Hi TCat! I did not know that you and Gudrun are members here now too! Glad to know you joined here. :biggrin

And I completely agree that the CompTIA pricing is way out of line. I stopped renewing my membership, since even with the discount coupons the membership was very little return for the investment. :(

It appears that TCat has made arraingments with StudyExams4less to allow those who already hold the CompTIA certs to get credit for the ETA certs without having to sit the tests. All we have to do is pay a fee. The info is here

Hopefully, when I have the funds, I can still take advantage of his offer.
