not looking for any good wishes as i was going to leave the forum after an arguement recently, but just to let everyone know i'm not so dumb when it comes to windows xp as i possibly appeared to people.Forums just don't put things across properly at times i feel.

I've passed the 70-271 at my first attempt without much studying.
Just used a lab book,a few nuggets, and spent about a dozen nights at college too.

It is a tough exam, the A+ is a walk over, and fairly straightforward in comparison, that is my view anyway.

I still don't really fully understand the mcdst, even after passing, but i must have picked up enough in the last 9 years to get me through.
My 604 A+ exam will be soon, confident of passing it.

    Congrats on the pass...

Sorry to hear that you feel the need to leave the forum. You could just ignore the person/people you feel aggrieved at, you know.

The good thing about a forum is that it gives people a voice for their opinion. Stay and continue to voice yours... :D

I mainly want to avoid the public,i just don't have the manner for day to day contact with the public, hardware repairs, which is what the 604 is about suits me best, self employment hardware related could also be fine.

With a bit of money i know i could do a few hours computing work and make better money doing other things,£500 to £1000 a week doing work outside of computing is possible.

Basically i would not plan to make a proper wage through computing, which some people haven't noticed,or didn't pick up on,and assumed i'd have to throw every hour into computing and learn the lot off by heart, which in my world isn't the case.

I do know people who worked at repairs, people with a lot less knowledge than i have, and the jobs on a regular basis they were getting were so run of the mill, fit a modem, fit memory, clear a virus this stuff is so simple really, this is real world day to day repairs, which is why i got into an arguement recently about some of the content of the mcdst,i asked myself why am i bothering with this material.I may well be learning stuff i'll never use.

Yes i might miss out on work if i can't do tricky networking jobs or other subjects,i'm not bothered really.I don't plan in my life time to ever learn every computer subject, some things interest me and some don't,i'd rather set up a music festival than set up a network.
I used to be a music promoter.

So i'm enthusiastic about computers up to a point, but i have other interests too.

I've probably dedicated 4 years solid out of the last 9 to mainly learning about computers.

There are alot of different routes/areas in IT and depending on how you see a career in IT going that will dictate what you'll study, what to learn about, what to get certified in, etc...

lol, there is always an area or a field or a cert that I don't have that will contribute to me not getting a job/missing a job. If I want that job next time, then I'll correct if for next time. If I don't, then I won't :)

Good luck for the future :)

thanks for all the comments,i'm glad the exam is now over, even during the exam i felt certain i'd need to resit it.

Nearly every question i had to read two and three times such is the style of microsoft questioning.

I might try for the second part of the mcdst.

You might aswell, there's not much point in gaining one part of a qualification/certification.
