Thankfully it has been confirmed that the good old Start button is backin Windows 8. Who ever designed the bottom left hot spot should be flogged (OK told off ha ha) :)

I actually couldn't care less. Haven't really noticed the fact its been missing, I'd rather they sort it out so that my HP ProBook 4740s can actually run Client Hyper-V rather than the install failing every time because HP stuck 2 USB3 ports on the side of the bloody thing.

    Oh and this:

"An article in the Financial Times described the move as one of the "most prominent admissions of failure for a new mass-market consumer product since Coca-Cola's New Coke fiasco nearly 30 years ago" - making reference to the soft drinks company's decision to ditch a new recipe after overwhelming customer dissatisfaction."

Is such a ridiculous statement from the FT that I don't actually know where to start, they are putting a visible button over a hot spot, not re-releasing XP.

I have now become comfortable with using Windows 8 without a start button. Nonetheless, I welcome this change.

I don't think it will be the same Start button that everyone expects, it will still bring you to the ModernUI instead...

@theprof - you are correct, after reading the article left clicking the start button gets you the metro screen and right clicking gives you a smal subset of tools it looks like. smh*

Indeed  I cannot believe how removed their marketing/development people have become from their users. All this bad publicity and they still continue to impose unnecessary limits on user choice. Well, no need yet to reconsider my decision to ignore Windows 8 then... :noway
