I'm not convinced.

I played the beta, and it was Great! Loved it, and definately want to take it for a spin. But a Christmas release is potentially a bad idea. Everyone and their dog is going to be trying to access it at the same time, over the christmas period (christmas day/boxing day in particular). If the servers can't handle the load properly, it's going to crash and burn.

 

I lost two years of my life to Star Wars Galaxies, if I play this I won't be married anymore!

 

Already had it pre ordered. Now cant wait, and as have early access teh 2 day difference wont matter. Loved playing SWG until SOE screwed it up with teh combat change, so hoping SWOTR will be ten times better!

 

I was reading that there was going to be a strictly limited release in order to prevent an overloaded server debacle.

I'm waiting for the current round. Word is that it's already out in the US, but will be released to EU "soon".

Of course, it's not an open beta, so you still need to sign up and be selected.

I've been keeping an eye on this and The Secret World. Both look interesting. My only real concern is losing most of my free time to an MMO again.

Fergal, what's your opinion of it so far (without blowing the NDA).


I've been missing an MMO, but I blew £50 on STO and that was such a waste of cash.

 

Get it over with now and then you know you'll have the time.

 

I just got the invite today lol... when I get home I will go ahead and install it. All these MMO's are dangerous...

Oh, and I've just realised the NDA got lifted middle of the month so let me know what you guys think so far (no story spoilers)...

 

OK so whose in the beta and what do they think so far? I'm lvl 7 sith inq after only 3 hrs playing, though have heard leveling in game will be slower than beta. They just want players to getthrough lvls to test for beta.
I like the graphics, the cutscences were great and the overall looks about right. Most of the missions dont feel like kill X amount of Y grinding ones, though there are some that feel a little bit like get X return to Y rinse and repeat. Only thing so far was teh wait to get on as teh servers were full.

 

Technically I'm in again, but I've been away all week, and it seems to be taking forever to download the patches, so I doubt I will get a whole lot of a chance to play it.

If it's anything like last time though, it should be pretty good.

 

I loved it, managed to get to level 10 IA and level 12 Trooper.

It definitely didn't feel like a beta, so I think this is was probably server-capacity tests as well as some good PR before launch.

Anyone still playing this?

I didn't realise the cost so refused to purchase it (£50), knowing the subscription would still kick in. If it was more inline with other subscription based games I would of happily jumped at it.

Anyway, so I still haven't got it - it seems a lot of the players stopped it after realising it had the same grind and end game isn't so developed (expected though, new release).

If you're still playing, would you still recommend it? Is it going to be a nice game to chill and play occassionally?
