I have recently passed my 70-271 Exam and will soon be starting on the 70-272 Book.

My question is with the MCDST is there quite an overlap to the 70-270?

As I was looking at either taking this after the MCDST or possibly upgrading to the MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician.

The only reason why I ask is that work have set my an objective to reach MCITP: Enterprise Support Technican by the end of Nov 08 to get a pay rise (even though we do not even support Vista at all!).

You might ask why am I doing the MCDST then?, well I started that about a week or so before I got my first IT job.

    So which route is best?

Route 1) MCDST then 20-270 then MCITP: Enterprise Support Technican 20-621?

    or

Route 2) MCDST then MCITP: Enterprise Support Technican 20-621 then 20-270

I'm thinking Route 1, but would really like some advice.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

70-270 is the first exam in the MCSA track... suggested for people with experience administering XP computers in a domain environment. If you've got that, I'd recommend 70-270 before 70-621... keep your mind on XP exclusively before swapping to Vista.

On the other hand, if you don't have that experience, I'd hold off on the 70-270.

I agree with Boson, stick to the XP/Server 2003 path, then go with the Vista/Server 2008 path.
Since you've already done your 271, I would go for the 270 next as the exams are similar in nature (Over a 50% overlap I would say, although the 270 has much more complex questions). Then do the 272 as it differs more from the 270/271. Then proceed to the 290 and 291 to complete your MCSA.

    Thanks for the feedback.

It really does make more sense to go down the route of the 270 first. So thats my plan of action :)
