Finally, after the fourth attempt, I have passed the Word 2013 Expert Part One exam! Turned out that two failures were caused by incomplete delivery of the exam results. So I could have passed anyway, but Certiport didn't want to change the score for me. Luckily they gave me an exam voucher so I could try it again (this time on a PC that was more reliable).

And so I passed with an result of 820 points! :)

Of course, in order to get my certificate (including the MOS Master one) I'll have to pass exam Part Two as well. I already have done an attempt on that, so I now know what I can expect. Going to try it next week. Would LOVE to officially become Microsoft Office Specialist Master. :D

Congratz and also good to know you would have nailed it on previous attempts. So I'm guessing "incomplete delivery of the exam results" would mean their testing software was at fault and nothing you did?

That's correct. Scores of all attempts below, those of the second and third shot might point out for you why I found it strange to fail the exam.

    First shot:
    Manage and Share Documents 67%
    Design Advanced Documents 50%
    Create Advanced References 100%
    Create Custom Word Elements 50%

    Second shot:
    Manage and Share Documents 100%
    Design Advanced Documents 100%
    Create Advanced References 75%
    Create Custom Word Elements 0%

    Third short:
    Manage and Share Documents 100%
    Design Advanced Documents 100%
    Create Advanced References 100%
    Create Custom Word Elements 0%

And of course the fourth shot again:
    Manage and Share Documents 100%
    Design Advanced Documents 100%
    Create Advanced References 100%
    Create Custom Word Elements 50%

See, I failed for the last section twice. Considering that I did understood this part very well I found it very strange. That's why I contacted Certiport to let them find out why. I failed the first time because I wanted to pass it too badly. Not very smart of me. But again, the second and third time it was the software. And kind of the OS itself, by the way. All computers were crashed AND I wanted to do the exam in another language so we had to pick a random notebook. Proctor/teacher might have installed the software incorrectly or something.

Anyway, at the fourth attempt I managed to pass finally. So I'm really happy now. :)

By the way, for those who have achieved the MOS Word 2013 Expert certificate: how hard is Part Two really, compared to the Part One exam??? I'm planning on doing this one next Monday or Tuesday. Of course I have learned for this one like I did for the exam I just passed. But I can imagine that there is a noticable difference in the number of tasks and maybe even the difficulty. Anyone who can make this a little more clear to me?

Have you followed up with Certiport to get a refund if they know the issue was with the exam?

Yes and no: I didn't get a refund, but a voucher I could use to do any MOS exam I want (as mentioned in my opening post). Of course I have used it to retake the Part One exam. :) The funny thing is that I didn't have to ask for a free retake or whatsoever. After sending my 'Exam Item Evaluation' form to Certiport they sent me an E-mail (just to tell that they have received my request and the Technical Department will look after it) including the message that they've added an exam voucher for taking any MOS exam. I think that this was a very good gesture of them. I mean, better than nothing, right?

By the way, just in case I haven't said so: I don't even have to pay for taking an exam, it's part of school. I currently follow the training to become Systems Administrator and one of the subjects we got is Office. Going for Word Expert/MOS Master wasn't really the purpose of it, Word core, Excel core and PowerPoint core were. But since I was so quick (everyone in my class is still learning for the first exam) my teacher told me that if I wanted to, I could go further. However, it's not like I can do as much attempts as I want. For the core exams, if you are graded at least 550 points, you're passed (so your report will be updated). Because Word/Excel Expert isn't part of the training, I got luck I was allowed to try it a few times more. If I would have failed again the last time, they would have said this for sure: "Sorry Tom, we can't let you do any other exams anymore". That's why I am SOOOOOO happy I finally passed it. Hope it will be the same for Part Two, but withouth needing more than two other attempts.

At first they recommended me to go for Outlook, if I wanted to become Master. But I've read that since January this year, having Word Expert, Excel Core and PowerPoint Core in my case are enough to attain that title. So I told the teacher about that, and he found it super that I wanted to go to an even higher level. Not many students at my school have done an Expert exam. In fact, my main Office teacher only has passed the core exams. And another Office teacher, who mainly oversees taking the exams as well, only has Excel Expert. So I had/have to learn for Word Expert on my own. xD

But that's not even bad. After all, I took the Core exams at my own tempo as well. Only for Excel I have followed a few classes, but after some time the teacher said that I would definitely be able to pass that exam without any trouble. Only got 737 points for it, but hey... I don't work as much with Excel as I do with Word and PowerPoint. :P

    So far my story. ;)

    Thanks guys, really appreciate it!

Hey, I was wondering... I was planning on getting myself an official Wallet Card of MOS from the MCP site. However, at some reason I just get a blank page (only showing 'Certification Marketplace' and 'Wallet Cards', nothing more. Does the Certification Marketplace work at all? Or could it be because of my location (Netherlands)? :P

By the way, it's the same issue when I try to get myself some logos, but then it shows a message saying they're working on it at the moment. Again, does this apply to you guys as well? :P
