    Hi all,

Long time reader first time poster and all that :p

To give some background, followed tips on her passed A+ and Network + with a little help from Mike Meyers.

Sat first MS exam today and passed with a respectable 783.

I used the MS press book and also my work gives us access to skillport website.

I found the skillport site good as it took you through screens and allowed you to view and click options, like synchronising files offline etc..

The MS press book was good but my god its a hard read, its a thick book covering a lot of topics written with the personality of a carrot. I'd recommend reading the MS press book for shear volume and accuracy of information, but for me personally I'm not sure if I had passed without being able to see and interact with screenshots.

Not sure if this is helpful or not looking back on things but hopefully so.

I also found the MS Press books test to be very close to the exam in terms of difficulty of question

    Thanks for the congrats

I've been studying for about 1+1/2months solely on 70-271 and booked the week off work, with the intention of hitting the books and passing. Then someone E-mailed me the MS 2nd shot offer, so I thought what the heck, and booked it for today rather than the end of the week.

I've done a couple of 70-272 practice tests and passed without reading the MS Press Book. Armed with my MS second shot offer I'm gonna have a go for Friday. I'll do a full days revision tommorow, then have my daughter on Thursday. If I fail then I'll have to hit the books and retry next month.

I do need to add, studying A+ and Network+ made this exam a lot easier. I'd probably say N+ for me was harder than 70-271.

    Nev,

I agree - the N+ in my opinion was *much* more of a challenge than either desktop exams. Then again, i did the 270 before them! :blink :biggrin

Job done got 836. Didn't really revise too heavily for this one, if you pass 70-271 then there isnt a massive amount of difference in the two tests.

I had to do a bit of office studying just trying to remember where options point etc.. as I don't use them regularly or have them installed at home.

Now I'm off to research MCSA best practice (and cheapest) home study methods.

Unfortunately, "cheapest" doesn't equal "best". You tend to get what you pay for.
