Passed 271 today As i have not planned or studied for 272 and now have no time to, i am wondering the best exam to do next, does it matter? i was planning on doing both win 7 exams, but my goal is to get as qualified as possible, so what is the best progression path from here?

You should do the 70-272 then either the 70-680 or the edst upgrade for the MCDST. Certs are not a race and being too certified for your experience level can be a bad thing.

oh and by the way you dont know if you actually got 93% because Microsoft dont publish the max score although its assumed its 1000 although I have heard of people scoring more than 1000 on MS exams and I have also heard of people failing when they scored just over 700.

 

The max score is 1000, the pass mark is 700.
The reason you can't assign a percentage is because you don't know what 700 means. It can be anything from around 60% up to 85% depending on the exam. That's the bit they don't publish.
People scoring over 1000 or failing with over 700 must be confused.

I agree with the 'go for 272' strategy. You still have a month and that should be long enough to pass it for someone who has already passed 271. Good luck!

 

Not sure of your work expierence but definately go for the 272, if you don't feel you are ready to air the exam you at least know what it is about and only lost a month of time.

 

well done on the pass, the best thing is to start the 272 as it would be similar to the 1st believe it or not. The longer you leave between taking your certs the harder it gets.

I'm with the others on this, go for the 272 while it's still available. It's also easier than the 680/685 exams.

Thing is, i have been away on holiday for ages, and wont be back untill 25th June. I haven't even begun study for the 272, and as such, think it will be impossible to pass it before it retires? So i am wondering, if i am left with only the 271, which exam is best to do next? the vista exams, windows 7 exams or what?

any advice is appreciated,
