    I think you are just mixing up terminology noel, and you may of confused that poor soul on the other forum

    Formatting the CD with the UDF filesystem is fine, CDs are ALWAYS formatted with a filesystem (known as CDFS in windows, ISO9660 is its standard name) all DirectCD (and other packet writers like InCD etc) do is format it with the filesystem known as UDF which allows constant writing to the disc until it is full

    you cannot 'format' a CD-R as in, wipe it clean, like you can a CD RW, and you loose alot of UDF functionality by not using a CDRW as you can only write and not erase

    CDRWs can get 'formatted' as in wiped clean of data, this is done when they are full to empty them, if files are deleted from CDRWs the data is not removed, and the space is not made available, but the file is not listed in the TOC, so a full format is required to make available all the space again

    hope that clarifys

    I know a CD-R cant be formatted in the same way a CD-RW can be formatted...but as you said Phoenix its a form of UDF that is uses to format the CD-R in order to write to it until its full...maybe I did confuse the poor soul on the other forum and if you ask me he deserves it...case closed...

    Why do they dererve it? Maybe I missed something in this thread, was this person asking for help or was it an open debate? Either way I cant see why they would deserve to be confused.

    There's no nice way about it...Si someone was asking for help and advice and I just lent my advice but then some clever sod decided to make it an open debate and it was a free for all! Quite frankly I am not bothered about it anymore since the person hasnt even bothere using DirectCD and UDF methods before so even tho its a heated discussion I do find it quite funny sometimes...you can only laugh about things like this and not let them get to you...

    So let me get this straight. Jak has the biggest keyboard here and will post on anything. Now he's going to post on things, even when he has nothing to say?

    Somebody help us please:!::!::!:
