    This is the reason I'm taking one sooner than planned, had always wanted to do one and now seems like a better time than is going to be available to me later on.

    Although I've not looked into it, taking a 10-point short course may count towards 'studying for a degree' which may mean taking one at some point in the next year qualifies that person to be exempt from future fee increases.

    This would mean effectively 'putting off' the degree with a comparatively small amount of work whilst getting the financial benefits.

    May be worth looking into for those seriously considering studying with the OU
