I just want to express a big thanks to everyone on Cert Forums, you've been a great help in gaining my MCSA, which in turn has been a great help in landing my new job. I also used the CV writing advice that's pinned at the top of this forum, which was excellent.

As of yesterday I am a Network Services Team Leader [IMG] supporting the Windows and WAN infrastructure for quite a large organisation (By large I mean 12k users, nearly 100 sites, two datacentres, and a 30-server Citrix farm). This is way above my own expectations for my next job!

I'm now forging ahead with CCA (citrix) as well as my MCSE, and also learning about ITIL and PRINCE2. [Note to CF admins: how about Citrix, ITIL, and PRINCE2 forums?]

From my experience of job hunting over the last month I would give this advice to all you job hunters out there:
    • Take the time to write a slick CV (use succinct bulletpoints to highlight your skills).
    • Publish your CV on sites like Reed, Jobsite, and Monster, then sit back and wait for people to contact you. Yes that's right - don't actually bother to apply for any jobs!
Out of the six job interviews I went to, all the best jobs were the ones where they got in touch with me, rather than me applying to a specific ad. Usually the job descriptions were way more advanced than I would have even considered applying for too. This leads me to believe that the IT industry is definitely picking up and things are moving back in favour of the job hunters, so be optimistic in what you can achieve!

    Z.

Let me be the first to congradulate you.
Just out of interest how long has it taken you to get your MCSA?
What did you do in your previous job role?

    All the best.

I don't know if you feel this adventurous but would it be possible to make your CV (identifying information edited out of course) available to the members here? I'm sure a lot of folks here would like to see first hand what a "winning" CV looks like.
