    Thanks Sparky for the book and all for the kind words.

    Its with the same company on the same contract so I'm very happy. I'm really excited I'll be getting back into the Server world full time although I'm sure I'll be cursing when an engineer calls me at 3am ha ha

    Get this gang, not only will I save £300 a month in train costs but this job knocks 100 miles PER DAY! from my daily commute! I'm over the moon to say the least

    It looks like I'll be starting in 6 weeks. I was a bit gutted at first but I suppose that is about right considering I'll have to hand things over, maybe give the odd bit of training. I've got the 3 days off in between the royal wedding so thats 11 days off I think :)

    Found out we get the local De Veres hotel gym for practically half price so I'll be dragging myself there for sure! T' has a pool too :)

    Yeah right, its freakin amazing, I get to play with other peoples wonga!

    One minute its a HP Blade Solution, with a c3000 Chassis, with Fibre Switches connected to a MSA 2000 G3 FC to start a VMware project for a client, followed by a conversations about the pro's and con's of iSCSI v Fibre performance against cost.

    Next minute its designing a new infrastructure for a Government Department, Exchange 2010 DAGS, Hyper V with Dell EquiLogic iSCSI SAN.

    Best thing is, I get to talk about tech all day long and people listen to me.

    Actually Windows Security (with some SCCM, Hyper-V, XenApp and the like).

    I got the offer today and tbh I would be stupid to turn it down.

    Totally mate, end of the day you can always go back contracting. I'm glad you will be settled and hope that its a reasonable commute. I've worked with too many contractors I like who travel daft miles. Sorry I think I remember you saying you did a fair few miles! but I'm often mistaken :S

    I'm permy, but as a consultant I travel stupid miles anway (that and the closest major city is 5+ hours away, and i never even go to that one!

    Well done mate, shaving 100 miles a day off in the UK is pretty great :)

    Unfortunately the commute is still horrible, spending between 5 and 6 hours a day commuting now :( and that's the only thing that's likely to throw a spanner in the works as far as longevity is concerned but considering I managed it with the last role (and I was driving that one rather than training) this shouldn't be too much of an issue, it will give me time to do things on the train at least.

    Congrats on the new role and yeah whilst on the train if you get a sit you can put your ipad to more use eg ebooks cbt etc.
