Sitting 291 on Thursday, I am only scoring about 55% on transcender and am not feeling confident. The sheer amount of information to absorb for this one is staggering.

Any last minute advice? I feel I will be using my second shot in Jan

If you're not confident then why not re-schedule for after the new year? Save that second shot for even later.

If your only getting around 55% on the transcender look like you could be a little under-prepared. As Simon says, perhaps re-schedule and use the xmas period to really study hard (if possible)?
Best of luck for Thursday if you go through with it :)

Go for it mate, make sure you study up on WSUS.

One of the more difficult Microsoft exams I must admit but a great feeling when you pass! :biggrin

It seems like transcenders score can go to prove if one is really prepared or not? I for one have heard numerous people say the transcenders test prep software was more intense and difficult than the actual real exam. I still think if you have gone through the MS press book and used technet on wsus, dns, rras and dhcp you'd be fine.

Truly, you a lone can tell if you're really prepared to tackle this exam or not but if I were you I'd face my fears and go for it. The choice is yours though:)

Maybe you could postpone it for a while untill you are getting a better score on the practice exams.

I don't want to sound discouraging in any way, but if you aren't doing well on the Transcender's, then it would seem as though you may want to postpone for a few weeks. I would usually say that if you aren't passing a practice test, it wouldn't be advised to take the actual exam.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

I was sailing through the Transcenders before i sat 70-216 the Windows 2000 network infrastructure and i still failed the real exam. For me, on that occasion, the real exam was far tougher than the Transcender.

I would put it off until you feel ready.. failing is not a nice feeling.

Thanks for all the advice folks,

I have decided to take the test, I don't like failure but feel it may motivate me to study harder. I am quite strong on dns, dhcp and ip addressing but know I could be better on rras and ip security. I am currenlty nailing down WSUS so this should help as well.

I will let you all know how it goes

    Thanks Again

Now that's the attitude am talking about, good decision as I would have done the same. Don't threat you'd be fine just relax on the day and don't rush too quick in answering each questions, after all you have 4 hours to slain the beast.

    Someone after my own heart.

I find that with Transcenders that although they are a fair gauge of your knowledge, getting good marks on them will by no means mean you will definately pass the real thing.

With the 70-290 Exam I studied hard with various books, various labs and felt ready. Upon taking the Transcenders I was around the 30%-50% mark and felt so disheartened as I'd already booked the exam (with a second shot if I was to fail) I took the exam anyway and managed to pass.

Looking back, the Transcender wasn't particularly good on this instance, and It has put me off using them for other exams.

Having said the above which test prep software have you found useful in this case?. Thanks in advance:)

I am in exactly the same situation as you

    I failed first time

    615/1000

I am booked back in for Thursday too. I feel slightly underprepared but I am going in with a good atitude that I am going to do it and have an MCSA for Christmas.

When I did my 290 I was getting 1000 regularly using UCertify and then failed. I wouldn't gauge too much by the test engines.

I failed on RRAS last time so have been concentrating on that.

Good look for tomorrow mate! :D

To be honest judging from those who have previously sat this exam it would be right to say one has to be confident in all topics covered. Just my 2 pence opinion:)

Sorry to hear that. I think most of us have failed a test or two in our time though, so you're in good company.

I have to say though, I was worried when I first read the title to this thread about whether or not you would be able to get 291 calmed down today. :biggrin
