I've recently completed two MOSs & have now started on Expert, intending to get Master Cert.

I'm applying for a sessional Further Ed teaching job to teach none IT subjects, but may also be able to teach IT if I have NVQ Level 3 or Level 4 (or equivalent) IT qualification.

So, does anyone have any idea what academic level the MOS/MOM Certs are equivalent to in the UK? e.g. NVQ 3 or 4? AS or A level?

    TIA

For it to be recognised it would have to have a QCF qualification level, which they don't have.

But to give you an idea, Level 3 on the QCF is A-Level, Level 4 is HND/HNC

    Hi,

The MOS aren't directly mapped, as such (they are mapped but they aren't a stand alone academic qualification, hopefully I'm explaining it right)... However they can be combined with other modules to achieve a qualification at a certain level.

Qualifications that MOS/MOM certifications can be applied to: iTQ 2 & 3 (the IT User NVQ), GCSE ICT, etc. So in other words level 2 and level 3 qualifications (GCSE and A level type qualifications), provided the awarding body (for example OCR) accepts them as part of the whole qualification.

Thanks, I guessed they wouldn't be recognised by the QCF. Hopefully they'll be accepted even without that.

That's really useful info, both for me personally, for other people doing MOS/MOM, & if I do end up teaching IT it'll be good to know for students who want to know how they compare with other IT qualifications.

    Cheers!
