    Hi,

After taking the two exam path I finally managed to pass my ICDN2 this morning making me a CCNA. I can truely say that the work paid off and it feels great.

To get me here, I used the Wendel Odom cisco books. I also bought the routing tcp/ip volume 1 book by Jeff Doyle (really excellent). This book goes into quite a lot of detail and not all of it is relevent for the ccna, however, it gives you the full details and helps you understand why certain routing protocols are the way they are.

I used subnettingquestions.com to get really good at subnetting in my head. I used Todd Lammles method for subnetting which for me was the clearest out of all the methods - no nonsense about magic numbers etc

All I can say is you have know subnetting like the back of your hand, then from this, ACL's, NAT, summarization and route configs builds on top much more easily. Remember also to work on all the questions provided with the cisco books.

    Good luck everyone.

My next step will be looking more at some other technologies, cisco ACE, F5, checkpoint and bluecoat as well as preparing for the CCNP :)

    Cheers.

P.S for all those looking for an easier way to pass the ccna, I have heard that there are websites with the actual exam questions. however...DON'T DO IT!! :x in the end you cheat yourself and deep down in your heart you can't really call yourself a CCNA.
