Once in a blue moon does a really genuinely honest to God good day come about. Must be all that good karma coming back to me!

Today started off with me finding out the results of the job interview I sat last week. I got the job! I will soon be starting work for the Cayman Islands Government, really looking forward to it! Times were rough for a while as I was told I was being let go from my previous job due to the current state of the economy. Was a close call, I nearly had to wave the white flag and leave the island!

So employment wise all is well now, I can't wait to start the new job!

Second good thing that happened today was the EXTREME book and goodies purchases I made today. You really have to love the Cayman Islands for good quality classified ad's. Today I managed to obtain this enormous haul of goodies!

1. MCSE 2003 Self Paced Kit (5 Books although the 270 and 290 are redundant for me as I've done them)
2. BlackBerry professional (good to brush up my BES skills again)
3. CCNA 2 pack complete kit
4. MS Press Exchange Server 2003 70-284
5. MS Press Active Directory 70-297
6. Friends complete Seasons 8 and 9 (for the gf, she's delighted with those!)

All for...... wait for it.......... CI$75!!! (that's about US$90)

Have a look at the haul below, all CD's are there and minus a few scribbled notes here and there they are in great nick!

I love really good days like this and there will be more! I have my best friend and his bird from home coming to visit for 2 weeks tomorrow and a nice celebratory boat trip at the weekend where a few Cohiba's and cans of Sparks and Night Train shall be consumated!!!

 

It's actually chilly here tonight, it's 27c outside right now but a bit of a breeze is flowing as we're near the sea.

Sorry, rubbing it in! It is actually swealtering tonight, everyone is saying the season is changing here. Almost time for another lovely hurricane season.

Leehaa, thanks a mill! I heard a lot of people went for the job so I feel very fortunate in these tough times to have landed it. Not blowing my own trumpet but a few people said when they found out that it's unheard of for an ex-pat to land a job with the CI Government, especially during a recession when they want to be hiring locals instead. It made me realize just how lucky I was to land this role so am very thankful for that.

As mentioned before the weather is great, not when it's 27c to 30c+ at night with no wind, that ain't fun! It's a small place to live too. To give you a good idea of what it's like, about 1.5 times the population of this island go to see Manchester United play at Old Trafford.

Talking of football and strictly OT, my sympathies extend to all the Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal fans here. Sorry, but the Champions League belongs to (and will be won by) Barcelona! VISCA BARCA!!!!
