Does anyone here use or support the iPad in a business environment? What is the set-up, security, use, etc within the business like? Just wondering as last week we had a BOD meeting where the chairman turned up with his new toy. I bet then that within 2 weeks I'd have a request that we need to have a couple. I won the bet. :biggrin

So I'm just gathering anything about using them in business or maybe an alternative.

We were actually looking into incorporating the ipads in to our citrix environment. We have users that work from home sometimes and with the ipad you can set it up so that you can access citrix applications. There's more to it, I think it can do RDP as well, etc...

Use one myself along with a collegue but we're not linked in to our whole network, glorified tech book readers / rdp terminals / web access onsite / mail headers - but they fill a role, only wish is for an ethernet adaptor for testing. A couple of clients have them, but our client base is primarly small businesses and so they don't want to shell out for more than the basic "get it on the wifi and configure the email" config.

I did look up some info a while back though, these popped to mind, not sure if you've seen them but a good starting point:

    Security Overview: http://www.apple.com/ipad/business/pdf/iPad_Security_Overview.pdf

    Enterprise Deployment: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Enterprise_Deployment_Guide.pdf

    Deployment Scenarios: http://images.apple.com/ipad/business/pdf/iPad_Deployment_Scenarios.pdf

    Parent Page: http://www.apple.com/ipad/business/

On a secondary note I couldn't help myself today, went in to the apple store and dribbled over the new 11" macbook air's - damn thats some nice engineering.

I know that the likes of EMC are also looking into using iPads more in their enterprise and what with the soonish release of the VMware View and VC clients that makes using them in the enterprise more appealing.

On the whole I am impressed with mine.

Yes I think it would be but there is a problem. They don't except cash. I saw something on my local news about a guy who saved up cash then couldn't buy it for the exact reason that they don't want people to turn around and sell them. I don't remember what channel it was on or else I would give you the link. sorry but i hope that helps.
