    I'm running c3725-adventerprisek9-mz.124-15.T8 currently.

Here is my question. Should I always set ip classless? Is that now on by default in IOS?

Ran into this where I was getting bad masks on something I was pretty sure I shouldn't have and this was the answer.

    Is this considered deprecated?

    Thanks all

i just read about this while studying for ccna.
ip classless is required if you want to use subnetting. i believe all cisco ios after 12.0 have ip classless enabled by default. so if youdon't use the 'ip classless' command then you can only use routing protocols like ripv1. however, if you do have that command enabled, then you can use protocols like ospf and eigrp.

    hope that helps.
