Here we are looking forward to a wonderful family holiday in Orlando over Easter.

    Problem 1

Found out that the kids have to have their own passports contrary to the travel agents advise. So a trip to the passport office in Peterborough is in store for me tomorrow.

    Problem 2

Phone call from the wife today whilst I was at work to inform me that my son Stuart had been taken to hospital because he had badly twisted his ankle. After an x-ray, not twisted, broken. He's no sitting here with his leg in plaster. Now we have to wait to see if the hospital put a full cast on it. If they do, there is no-chance that the airline will allow him to fly.

    BUGGER

I don't wanna know what problem 3 is gonna be.

That is some real bad news, AJ.

Firstly, I hope Stuart is OK and bearing up. Also, fingers crossed that all comes together and you get your holiday, Mate.

    All the best ...........

:soz to hear about the accident and I do hope stuart's is feeling better now his leg is in plaster.

May I shed some "Good News" and a link to the BA webpage on medical conditions....

    (Updated link)
Where it does say plaster casts must be fitted for 48 hours before a long flight........ so its worth checking with the airline in question as to their policy. :shades

Sorry to hear the bad news AJ, but at least Stuart is okay. Looking on the bright side, as Japes pointed out as long as the cast is fitted a minimum of 48 hours before flying it should be okay. Usually airlines have standardised rules which they've copied from each other so you should be okay.

Thanks a lot guys. Just feeling a little cheesed of at the moment but chin up we WILL be going.

@ Japes Thanks for the link mate, we are traveling with Continental, and I haven't seen anything on their web site looking like BA, but I'm sure they would be similar.

Stuart is actually looking OK. Still he realises that there will be no swimming and beach and has shrugged his shoulders and got on with life.

Still on the up side, at least if we need a wheel chair in Disney we can queue jump. I know, it's sick and sad but there you go.

Sorry to hear about your troubles but it doesn't sound quite as dire as originally advertised. I've never been to Florida but I hear Disney World is nice. A child in a wheelchair ought to grease a few wheels as far as waiting in line and such.

Personally, if I were that close, I'd drop by the Cape and NASA. I hear the Florida Keys are nice, too. Have a great trip.

Sorry to hear the bad news, I know how you feel as my son has just had his full leg cast removed after he came off his motorbike and shattered his ankle, he still cant walk on it.

Did he get a full cast or not?

He's got what is called a "back slab". This is a cast that doesn't meet in the front of the leg to leave room for swelling. I'm just hoping that they leave this on so we can go on our hols.

Chris was in hospital for about a week and he had a back slab on all the time he was inthere until the swelling went down then they put a full leg cast on and sent him home.

I know that it is no consulation but if he iss able to fly and can get a doctors note thats says so you should be able to get your money back or at least re book your holiday for later in the year.

Sounds like things are at least heading in the right direction now..... just don't forget those passports..... wouldn't want anyone left "homealone".

you know it really worries me when travel agents don't even know the now "defacto" rules on passports and the like.... and there in the business. It a bit like someone in IT saying, its ok to turn off the AV on a users PC, most places would shoot ou for less :)

    Ok peeps quick update.

Kidz passports came today so that is the end of that little problem. Think that could be the start of things getting better.

    Glad to hear that AJ.

Have you spoken to the Airline about the leg cast? If they say OK then you know your in the clear and the holiday is on...... Hopefully not the usual type of arguments and screaming..... which is enough to make you want to come home
