Well, we have 3 days left before staff return to the high school, the head comes in today for the first time all summer. and mentions "Is it not all finished yet"

Apparently, 2 people, installing an entire network for a 1300 pupil, 200 staff school, along with 80 new machines, 10 servers, all the switches, images on the 400 older machines still in the school, moving all the replaced machines into storage, assetting and recording said replacements etc etc etcshould only take a week.

and on top of that, I went into a 30 machines room this morning, first job of the day, expecting to switch them on, boot from network get them all installing from WDS at the same time, to discover, some helpful soul has decided to completely unplug every machine in the room, so most Power leads and network cables have slid down the back of the cabinets, what should of been a 20 minute job turned into a 45 minutes and then didn't bother job.

WHY WOULD THEY UNPLUG EVERY DAMN THING!!!

some useful soul doing PAT testing??? lol they did that across our site and was a nightmare. Apparently IT is expected to cable tidy desks

 

Yup, cleaners are a nightmare.

We used to stick labels on the plugs saying 'NEVER, NEVER unplug this'.
Then everything would go dark and we'd run into ops to find an old dear pushing her Henry around.

So we'd show her the plug and the label and say 'why have you unplugged the plug that says 'NEVER, NEVER unplug this'?'

And the answer was 'It was only for a minute...'

EVERY TIME.
