More accurately, either collections of previously published comic books or comic books specifically marketed as "graphic novels" because they'd never get the "Comics Code Seal of Approval" due to violent themes. I just read "Batman: Year One" published in 1988 (the year my daughter was born) and saw quite a few themes that were used in the "Batman Begins" movie. It also depicted Jim Gordon in a much less than "nice guy" way. I read them when I'm ready to go to sleep. Nice way to shut the brain down. In the morning, I swill coffee and read what the lot of you have posted while I was asleep.

LOL - I was actually going to put 'Drinking and Metal' originally :)

In reality of course, despite my flippant earlier comment, I have numerous interests outside Drinking and Metal. My music taste is very vaired - encompassing metal, rap, jazz, ambient, dance, indie, industrial and all sorts of other stuff. In fact, the only music I flat out WON'T listen to is chart crap, garage, country and ragga. Got about 800Gb of music digitised and another 1000 or so albums only on vinyl, so never really stuck for anything new to listen to.

I love sports - used to play hockey, football and american football (yes, we do play it in the UK - or at least did a few years ago). Stopped playing hockey when I tore my ACL at 16 - struggled on vainly with American Football (I played Strong Safety for the UK national junior champs) for a year or so before calling that quits, but have carried on playing football - going from centre forward to left mid to left back over the years. Stopped playing that now as I have been ill with something that the doctors cant diagnose for nearly three years now :(

Still watch most sport, including football (follow Charlton and Barcelona), hockey (Pens), baseball (Red Sox - for twenty years before you call me a glory hunter), american football (Broncos) and boxing (almost salivating at the prospect of Hatton-Mayweather)

I spend as much time as possible with my wife - we had some marital difficulties a year or so ago and I'm trying as hard as possible to make that work out and don't see that much of my friends (I've kind of grown out of them - most of the time they just want to sit around and get f***ed up and that bores me to tears) but I do play cards with them regularly (and win - I'm pretty good at Poker)

I do a lot of reading - everything from sci-fi to 'regular' fiction. Got quite eclectic tastes - my favourite authors are Will Self, T Corraghessan Boyle, Terry Pratchett, Christopher Brookmyre and, of, course, Tolkein.

Loads more interests, too many to mention (attention span of a goldfish), but special mention should be made of my two cats:
    Chino, and
    [IMG]
    Kramer
I love them to bits and am always with them when I'm in the house - we lavished attention on them when they were kittens and now they won't leave us alone - not that I'm complaining, I just love being around them.

Played lots of different stuff over the years.

Last 3 to 4 years played a lot of Warhamer Ancient (Samurai and Persian armies) and even took part in a national Competition (came about 9th but did draw with the eventual winner :D)

The last few months has been just a lot of different board games with a bit of WAB on the side as we had a new guy down the club who was looking to play just games so we help him out with that. May be getting into Flames of War in the near future, depends whether my gamming buddies wana put their hands in their pockets to buy yet another set of rules and figures

Never played the run of the mill fantasy type gamesworkshop games although there are guys down our club who play on a weekly basis.

    What you into?

We'll see Arroryn! Im currently 13 wins from 14 games this season, lost to some Steve Davis lookalike, very suspect! :)

In all seriousness though, its great how many female players we get in our league, I wasn't expecting many but we've got quite a few. There is a completely female team as well, beat then 7-1 but at least they're trying

What kind of industrial Zeb? I quite like Industrial amongst many other types of Electronic music. Particular favorites are Front 242, Nitzer Ebb & Front Line Assembly. NIN are very good also, only got into them over the last 3 or 4 years.

    As for my hobbies,

Reading (Sci-fi & Fantasy mainly), Live music, TV, Movies, Photography and traveling. Although I do less of the last one than I would like too.

    Fairly typical I guess.

p.s. Cute cats Zeb, I have a couple also. :)

15 years ago I played a lot of Blood Bowl, Space Hulk, Warhammer 40K, but recently I've tried to get back into it a little. I tried getting into the LOTR game, but I don't really have time, and it isn't the greatest IMHO. I'd rather some 40K if I'm actually going to play.

I've been spending more and more time playing guitar (and bass) lately. It's not so much a hobby as it is an obsession :)

I also greatly enjoy reading fiction, mostly crime fiction. I like writing, but I do so much of that at work, I haven't been doing it much at home lately.

Our dogs of course. We are going to start training them for pulling contests. We walk them just about everday out in the woods. I love to go camping and fishing. Woke up one time with snow on top of me. Another year woke up in the middle of a thunderstorm in the middle of a dam flood. I went an crawed in the van with the dogs and left joe laying there till he got cold and wet enough to come join us. :biggrin I still catch hell over that one. We love to be in the woods any time of the year. Would love to learn fly fishing. Love to do all kinds of crafts mainly in the winter. Sewing quilts, make wreaths with pinecones and moss on them ect, ect. Love to garden and I have house plants too. Am actually thinking about taking up wood working. Would love to make a sleigh bed and some furniture. I use to make wedding and baby albums. However, you can now buy them cheaper then what I can make them for. Still do it for good friends and family members though if they request them. But I have to say my most darkest deepest secrects to escape totally from reality is Romance novel. I like the ones that go back in history about irish or scottish. Yeah, I know, how could I waste my brain cells on those, but they are soooo good and have some great sex in them too! :biggrin

I have a number of interests - not sure if I'd go as far as saying they're hobbies just yet :)

    - apart from IT, my career in general, its not all about learning stuff and gaining certs but also people networking, business acumen and a keen interest in mangerial/director blogs/sites
    - photography, jumped into that head first with my first dSLR in April and have been happy snapping since - on a look out for a good club or group to go and do photography with (I feel the g/f does get a little bored with it sometimes!)
    - volunteering - anything and everything, raising money for charity, helping out at brownies/guides group that my g/f runs
    - American TV series - enjoy watching them with the g/f, our current one that we're making our way through is Charmed (down season 4 out of 8 now), The West Wing, Alias, Las Vegas, Heroes (not so keen), Jericho (when it was on), ER
    - PC games - very rare now, but would love to have a bit of time to play a FPS again!

Would love to get into/will do when I'm not gaining some certs!
    - trustee of a charity. Having suffered with depression myself I believe mental health charities have a lot to offer and would love to get into the nitty-gritty of strategic direction and control of such a big organisation - had an eye on a spot on Mind until I got caught up with work
    - as zeb, both the g/f and I love cats and when we move out of our current flat we'll be looking for one that can have a cat-flap or such like in the door, and we'll be getting 2 kittens

-I use to do Karate about a year ago, but since then I dont have a steady job as yet, need to save up for it a months down the road.
    - Do abit of work out.
    - Most of my poor time is at work doing the long hours for the helpdesk.
    - Console gaming and abit of PC games. Currently playing mario Galaxy on the Wii. Would like to save up for xbox360 very soon
    - Driving, the one thing that keeps me sane in life. Doesnt matter what car your driving. The freedom to Go whatever you want to go is just awesome. Or when the fuel runs out :biggrin
    - And the most important part of my spare time, Chilling at home, yes Iam lazy as hell and who can blame me? :biggrin
