Having browsed these forums for a couple of months, I thought it was about time I introduced myself.

My name is Gerald and I live in Pembroke Dock in Wales. I have just finished my NVQ for IT Practitioners and am studying for my A+ which I hope to complete within 3 months. I opted for the NVQ route because I was very late getting in computers and felt I really needed to start somewhere where I would get some tutoring instead of self studying. This has paid off for me as it goes, because the guy who has taught me really knows his stuff and has given me a good idea of which way I need to focus my studies from here on in.

So over the next few months I may be asking for a bit of advice from the friendly folk here at certforums.

I was just wondering are you doing the A+ via self study or with a learning provider??

3 months eh? I hop you have mike meyers a+ book!

 

I'm doing it the self study way. I have had the good fortune of sitting in on a two week A+ course last december though, even though I was still a bit green at the time I think this has helped a little bit.

On the 3 month thing, I'm not committing myself to finishing it in 3 months, I would just like it done by then. If it takes me 6 or 12 months, then so be it.

I don't have the mike myers book, I have the GTS study notes. Do you think it would be a good idea to get the all in one book too.
