    Hi,

My name is Trey and I am looking to get certified in everything possible, lol. I graduated with a minor in MIS this past December, even though I wanted it to be my major. :( I was a terrible college student my sophomore and junior year, I partied and went out more than studying which caused me to get the boot out of the Business Dept. So i was stuck only getting a minor. Anyways, even though the minor is on my resume, seems like it means nothing when applying for jobs. I should have gotten certified in things while in school, but once again, bad decision making by me.

I have a nice little job that pays the bills, but I want my career to be in IT. So I have decided that it is time for me to get certifications, so companies will seriously take a look at me. I plan on going with A+ first then going from there.

Hi & welcome to CF :)

While it's great to be certified, remember it's not the "be all and end all". Aim for the entry level professional certifications first of all. The majority of higher-end professional certifications should reflect your experience/responsibilities and not to be used as an experience substitute.

At least you enjoyed yourself, I did also and I think its somewhat relieving to know you made the best of your time when you could and will now find it easier to knuckle down and move forwards rather than be a stiff at school/Uni and end up pleasing other people! Its what you do in your career that really matters, so put all that behind you and with the A+ and a entry level job you will be well on your way
