    Hi All,

Passing this on on behalf of work (haven't run this by Staff first ... hope it's OK )

Anyone looking for a first start in IT / Helpdesk support (customer facing) for Easyspace web hosting based in very nice modern call centre in Glasgow ?

Certs not a requirement, but a basic technical knowledge is, and experience of dealing with the public may be preferable.

If so, please send your interest and email address to cf_mayhem at nagana.co.uk, and I will send you the details as is. It will be tonight before I send out the first lot.

Also include your full contact details for me to pass on.

Cheers - hopes this helps someone :)

I paid a visit to the Easyspace datacentre in the south side of Glasgow recently as part of a work project.

In the end our clients needed a Tier 4 site so we didn't go with it, but I was quite impressed - also it's only 5 mins from my house and I didn't even know about it.

And this, my friends, is the perfect example of a "Hidden IT job" that is never listed in the papers or on online job search sites. THIS is why networking with people is *extremely* important to your IT career, and especially in getting your first IT job. :thumbleft

    Part-right, part-not, Mike...

We do advertise on one of the main UK jobs sites, but depending on urgency, they try and fill from within where possible, simply to speed the process.

I wouldn't have got the job I have now without it being an internal vacancy. However, your point is valid ..... hence me bringing the chance to our friends here :)

Right - I wasn't saying that your company NEVER uses online sites... I was just saying that THIS job wasn't filled by a job site posting. Thus, this particular job was "hidden". :)

I love real-world examples of this stuff to illustrate the importance of networking... :)

I remember reading some where that a company has to advertise there job vacancies externally even when they will probably give it to someone internally.

Some companies and governmental agencies do impose that limitation upon themselves as a matter of company/departmental policy. However, to my knowledge, there's no law in the US or UK that states that every company MUST post a job externally (or internally, for that matter), or for how long they must search externally.
