    Hi,

I'm David and I've recently decided to take the self-study route to the A+ cert after being jerked around by the only local college that does the course. Basically put, I paid for the course and was told "We'll ring you near the start of the course to let you know when it'll take place." Me being the kind of guy that I am thought "Gee golly! OK!" (well maybe not as camp as that) and left it waiting for the call that has never come despite numerous calls to the college and there never being anyone available to talk to me. The receptionist probably knows my mobile number like the back of her hand.

So, I decided I'm going to get a refund and use the money for whatever resources I would need to do it by myself. I happened to stumble across this site and I've got to say that you guys seem like a really nice bunch and it'll be a privilege to post here and gobble up any knowledge that I can.

Thanks again, looking forward to speaking to you all! :)

Welcome to the forum! I found this place a while back and the people here are great, always willing to help and have a laugh about IT. Or even a grumble. It's a veritable resource of great knowledge through all kinds of different viewpoints. I love it :)

    Hi David.

    Welcome to CF! 8)

Pity about the course, but you have definitely made a move in the right direction going down the self study route!

The Mike Meyers All In One 6th Edition, and the James Pyles PC Technician Street Smarts are two indespensible books for the A+.

Best of luck with your studies...

    John

    Hi David,

    Welcome to CF:D

Like GiddyG said, those are the 2 books you need plus a cheapo pc to dismantle/rebuild etc.

    Good luck with the studies.
