    Hi All,

    Yup I'm new.

I am thinking of signing up to Skillstrain to do the A+/N+ course. Looks like this forum will be helpful.

    Oh Well I've done it.......................

Big Breath, I've enrolled onto the Skillstrain A+/N+ course. The post about "Lambs to the slaughter" made me laugh.

Maybe a little about me first; I'm 39 and married. I wanted to be an astronaught, but my careers advisor at school said there was little call for them in our area and recommended farm work like EVERYONE else round here ! I did pass O level computer studies and half a year of a BTec electronics course at Tuson college in Preston, however my fathers failing health meant I had to quit to help with our family buisness (Growing Tomatoes,Lettuce and Cucumbers) and the rest as they say is history.

My frist use of computers was on my high school commodore PET. I then bought a 48K Spectrum and an Amiga 500+ and 1200, before getting into PC's. I have done a Computer technicains Diploma (City & Guilds) at Hugh Baird College and also a Web Design Certificate (also C&G). They were for my own personal use to better understand howto upgrade computers and build a personal website. I have since been hooked and I'm now a mad "Overclocker". So now it's time to reach out again for that dream, maybe not the moon, but enough is enough when it comes to "Humpin spuds".

I am sorry for the dumb, stupid, lame questions i ask. I know RTFM !!!!

1: Is the Mike Meyers A+ Book all it's cracked up to be ??

2: W'ont the stuff from skillstrain be enough ???

3: Also are there any other books I should be reading ? (N+)

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Hi and Welcome to CF! 8)

1: Is the Mike Meyers A+ Book all it's cracked up to be ??
This is the *best* book out there IMO and everyone elses!

2: W'ont the stuff from skillstrain be enough ???
Not sure - never used them

3: Also are there any other books I should be reading ? (N+)
No stick to the A+ books for now

I hope you are aware the A+ is being upgraded and your materials you are going to be given from Skillstrain could be outdated depending on when you start?

    Hello

Make sure you read the small print before signing the contract, also have you tried the others NITLC for example?
or ITlearneasy. If you type the names in the search section of CF you will find quite a bit on them!

    Good luck! :biggrin
