My name is Kris and I've just started Studying for my A+

I'm based in Aberdeen and the plan is to self study A+, N+ , ITIL and then either Microsoft MCDST... or the Cisco CCNA route.

The eventual aim (with A+, N+ and ITIL) is to get work in IT within the oil industry and continue to study at night.

Some quick questions:

Is there anyone here currently working in IT Support/Admin within the Oil Industry and which skills/certificates are prized?

Otherwise I've heard that some of the above certs can be used to gain credits with the Open University as part of a Foundation Degree in IT/Computing. Have any forum members taken this route and can they provide links to related threads?

I'm excited to be starting down this path. Thanks in advance for any advice

Welcome! I can't comment on the oil industry, but the A+ is a great entry point for certifications in IT support.
