Does anyone know if there is any funding available for this?

Since I want to take it as soon as possible, ideally once I've got a job so I can pay my way through it, but if there's funding available then that's a bonus I guess. I already have a Level 3 qualification, and this is considered a Level 2 qualification so I'm not entirely sure.

Hiya Len, I don't think it works like that sorry mate. If you get a job and are lucky your employer will send you on your A+ course and maybe pay for your exam. Ours do but many don't. I think you'd be best buying a good A+ book, studying part time and paying for your own exams. Thats how I do it. Cheers, Jim

I think that OCR offer a course that encompasses A+, which you could do for free. It also carries about 100 UCAS points which is nice.

I'm sure someone will come along soon and tell you what it is :blink

    Neat!

You don't happen to know anything about NVQ 4's? Not sure if theres any in IT though,

EDIT: Found this: http://www.ocr.org.uk/qualifications/nvq/it_professionals_level_4/ It has the CompTIA as an embedded unit (13) but these require me to have a job. Better get looking >_>

Free education? There's no such thing. Someone is paying for it, it just happens not to be you.

You may want to run that around your noodle a few times.

See comments I made in this thread about Pitman Training - they may be able to offer a funding solution if it's a TP you're after rather than self study.

As you are between 16-18 you will not have to pay any fees (according to consessons at our local college).

Do not get to hung up about level's of qualification when you're measuring different types, eg comparing academic to vocational to professional. The FEHQ and the NQF is an academic educational frameworks that vocational and professional certifications are, for the most part, mapped to.

Professional certifications are more aimed towards job roles and responsibilities.

Yes, they do. It's called iPRO, level 2 compasses the A+. It normally runs part-time over an academic year (some colleges may do it full time) and at the end you should get 2 awards (provided you pass the assignments and exams) one from Comptia and one from OCR.

Yep, NVQ's are work based. The NVQ Level 4 in IT and telecoms would be aimed at operational management.

Just wait until you land your first IT position and eyeball your pay stub. You'll be amazed at how many "free" things for others have been deducted from your pay packet.

Go to a college which provides the A+ course and ask them if you can get it for free. Are you in your first or second year of the BTEC?
