    Hello all

So Santa has been and gone and the best you managed was a hand knitted jumper and a bottle of "old spice".

So to put a smile back on those chops I am doing am running the OSI model again. Quite a few people have requested the OSI webinar, so here it is chaps.

This one runs on Monday 11th of January, 2 hours of OSI Model - Purpose of Protocol Stacks, Looking at the functions of each of the layers, we will concentrate on the lower 4 layers as they are more important.

From 8pm till 10pm (Sleep is hamsters and stuff)

    You can register on-line here

Remember it's free and all are welcome, same rules as before:

    You'll need same as before:

1: Headset (No speakers please as the echo and feedback is not good)

    2: computer

    3: Internet connection

4: a comfy chair and some tea (No biscuits as they make crunchy noises, unless you dip them first).

5: No ringing phones in the background. (My software shows the origin of background noise and I do mute excessive noise and and echoing..sorry)

6: No screaming children or howling animals in the background (We had on one occasion something that sounded like a cow)

7: No Joke telling until the end, I couldn't stop laughing last time:biggrin

    All welcome

    Nice

    Joe

    Hiya Joe,

Cheers for that, i've penciled it into my diary, got sod all else to do lol after smashing my ankle to pieces and getting plates and screws stuck into it on xmas eve, and before any sarcastic young or old fool comes out with some sarcastic remark i was stone cold 'sober' ;-) just don't tell work, never drunk on duty lol

Joe can you please re recommend the headset from pc world and i'll go and get it , instead of using the 'cans' i got with my ipod.

Have a good new years eve, i've already booked myself into my local bar , that so happens to be a b+b gotta room on the cheap, no crutches for me tomorrow night, hope i don't fall on the stairs thinking of OSI model ( Oh **** I've fell).

    Take Care

    Gerard

I use these from P.C world, cheap and cheerful. Webinar Headsets.

They use the 3.5mm jacks, plug and play

You're onto a winner with the busted foot, means you can't walk to the bar to get a round in

    Cheers

Thanks for another great session Joe. Loads of people on, judging from the noise... I'm sure I heard that cow in the background again. :)

Can't wait for the next one.

    Hi,

I have just noticed this and it is toolate, but i was wondering if you record these?

Would they be good for people doing there network+ as it is one thing i find hard to get my head around or is the discussion too advanced for this certification level?

    Hello chaps

Many thanks once again for Joining me last night

Giddy = I heard a horse but no cow.

    DV-ANT = Better than T.V init!!!

Dmarsh = Thanks for the recommendation on the Headsets, I will include those the list of headsets to buy

Jimgg = I try to keep the discussions as non-techie as possible, I don't want to lose anyone. For the N+ it is a good platform to get to grips with the basics. I run One of these per week, I will look at the schedule to see when I can get another one in.

The next one will be on IP addressing and Subnetting since last night we never covered as it is a huge subject to be covered along with the OSI model

I think in future I will keep numbers to around 20, we had 30 last night (Cows and Horse not included).

We finished around 10:45pm last night, I over run because I love to chat so beware if you register.

    Yeah Baby, Yeaaaaah
