I know there are various different exam ref Microsoft Training Kit books out there, although I haven't been able to identify one specifically for this exam.

I already hold the Windows XP MCDST qualification, and would like to upgrade this to the Windows 8 equivalent.

I therefore wonder which books I should be looking at instead, which will cover the right material.

The exam appears fairly similar to 70-689, although that one obviously is for people jumping up from Windows 7. I haven't done any more Microsoft exams since 70-272.

    Thanks.

You're right. The exams are rather different from what they were for the MCDST.
I decided to skip Win8 cert-wise as my office will not be taking it up & we're still using Win7.

Wish I could help, but I've not really looked at any of the Wn8 material - I know some here have sat this though, so hopefully some helpful member will be along soon.

EDIT:- Ah. actually looking this up this is specific to upgrades from XP to Win8, So I see your predicament. Personally, I always treated upgrade exams as just needing to know the whole syllabus anyway (eventhough you may not be examined on it all) so I'd say look at both the books for the MCSA in Win8 (70-687 & 688).

I was considering skipping as well, but I started looking at it recently then I received an e-mail from Microsoft about offering a free exam try for Windows 10 if I were to upgrade my Win XP MCDST Cert to Windows 8 by the end of May. So I'm in the same predicament as the OP :( Sad that no one was able to provide any study material. Although I'll take your advice about using the other test materials. If nothing else, the repeat material will be refreshers.
