DV9000 light come on and turn laptop turns off?

If i press the power button the blue lights flick on for about 1/2 sec, the fan and hdd spin also for 1/2 then the laptop switches off.



I have tried,

ac power without battery
battery on it own
tryin each stick of ram individually
removing hd
removing dvd drive

but the same with each

any idea?

It's a known fault with HP mobos of that generation...
If you have warranty, give them a call.

 

This is a known issue with DV9000 laptops acutally a lot of compaq/hq laptops just do a search on google for dv9000 recall. But I think most of them are now out of the extended warranty also. also hplies . com has people who are started a website with stats on how many of these lapops have gone bad.

The problem in most cases is the nvidia video chip on the MB. I have reparied many which turn on and then do not display anything.

Also try to do a search on youtube and you will find how to fix some of these.. solder reflow on video cards works with a heatgun....

if its just a bad motherboard then you'll have to replace it good luck...
