Is that saying that activation of vista records what hardware you have on your machine thats a bit shocking to be honest, although the part about it already being activated is kinda an amusing feature of vista

 

Nothing new here. XP does as well. In fact the way Vista works is very similar to XP in this regard. Change too many things and it will ask to be re-activated.

I work with the corporate version at work - 2000 users all running XP .. thank god for small mercies

 

ive got volume liscensing at work and the pc's are getting on so keep getting rebuilt lol. Im not surprised that xp records hardware changes, although ive never actually changed much hardware (and when i have its on my own comp which i rebuild lol) its just another system of control.
