    Is that saying that activation of vista records what hardware you have on your machine:eek: thats a bit shocking to be honest, although the part about it already being activated is kinda an amusing feature of vista :)

    Great :dry but then again I'm not surprised. At work we have 50 client licences (MS Assurance) for Vista, we only have 2 Vista machines yet according to MS we have 5 (due to reactivations). Go figure...

    Nothing new here. XP does as well. In fact the way Vista works is very similar to XP in this regard. Change too many things and it will ask to be re-activated.

    ive got volume liscensing at work :) and the pc's are getting on so keep getting rebuilt lol. Im not surprised that xp records hardware changes, although ive never actually changed much hardware (and when i have its on my own comp which i rebuild lol) its just another system of control.
