I'm looking to get hold of some cheap hardware, to practice and play about with - something I don't have to care about if I destroy it :) Where do you guys look for disgarded componants?

I had a look over ebay, there is some nice cheap bits and bobs there, old P2/3/4s, Durons etc etc and I have ordered a few things but the postage charges kinda defeat the object (for the bigger stuff - cases, mobos etc). Are there fairs or clear outs, classified adverts, lot sales etc etc?

    Thanks.

There are various organisations/schemes set up like Freecycle out there, there have even been a few posts on them here. Just do a search :)

Look at your local recycling center or pawn shop for cheap PCs

Car boots are awesome places for picking up cheap parts for basic PCs. Ive got a couple of P4 Motherboards including the CPU for a fiver each on the carboots and various other cheap "spare" components, for a couple of quid each, and never had a problem with anything ive bought:)

I forgot to add onto this as welll.......

Whilst ebay is one suggestion, you could always try the auction site ebid.co.uk. Ive bought a few bits and pieces off there and whilst its not as big as ebay, you can come across the odd bargain from time to time:)
