Not sure that this is the right Forum, but it is network related so here goes.

We have a few hundred laptop users that RAS into our network, when the laptops were first purchased an image was created and then applied to each machine in turn, the last few laptops that have benn imaged have started to display a strange fault/issue. when the user dials into the Ras server they are no longer being asked to authenticate (via a popup logon request box) they just simply go straight through and login, we are using the same image as all the other machine and they still get asked for logon details, nothing has changed on the RAS server and no one knows why this should be happening.

    Anyone experienced this before?????????

Ok a shot in the dark.

If the images are the same I wouls suggest that it has something to do with their user account?

There I've started it and prepared to go down in flames if I'm wrong :?

Remove and recreate the Users accounts ? Re-install TCP/IP ? Check their included in any Group policies on the RRAS ?

Sorry - no idea, I'm afraid, Nelix

Well, I'm stumped, the network managers stumped, the guy who built the image is stumped, everyone is stumped.

Just going to have to keep trying things, seems to be machine specific and not user......but how.....why.....

Just another thought if it's machine specific (I take it you have tried the same users on diferent machines - course you have  ), they arn't spoofing the MAC addresses are they?

Does it happen to the users every time they connect, no matter what the time is or does it happen sporadically, one time the user is asked for login information and another time not asked?

Is it possible the RAS server thinks the user is already logged on and therefore doesn't ask for login information again?

What are the maximum allowed connections for a RAS server?

How many machines actually have the problem? Are ALL the laptops identical? If not could it be hardware conflicting with the image (different from that of the original imaged machine)?
