290 scheduled

Well I finally went ahead and scheduled the exam for the 22nd of august. I know I've been procrastinating for the last 6 months or so, but it's because I wanted some experience before taking the exam. So now that I got some experience I feel comfortable taking the exam.

The other day I did a practice Measure up exam that's included with the MS press 290 book and I managed to get around 60% with no studying what so ever, so I figure if I cram for the next 3 weeks I will do well, at least I hope .

Wish me luck!

I really enjoyed the 290. It was my first Server 2003 exam. That first look in to the server side of things and Active Directory really made it a good one to study.

Thanks guys. To be honest I am kind of nervous but I know I have to get it done. What was your experience like? did you find it surprising at all? or its similar to the workstation client exams like 270 in any way? I know there will be sims, but the formation of the questions are similar?

From what I remember the questions were a little bit longer to read, you have to pick out the real question from the text, but overall I found it was no harder than the 270.

I see, thanks. I wish I had money for the transcender practice exams. I'll speak with my boss tomorrow about it maybe I can get a discount.

I used the transcender practice exams for 270 and it was great helped a lot.

No major surprises although you will get some sims. Nothing to worry about though.

Thanks Sparky.

I am setting up the lab right now, about to install the server 2003 trial edition. Hopefully things go smoothly.

So I took the exam today, I had reschedule because I didn't have the time before... Anyways I didn't do so well, I failed with a 600 but that's because I didn't study what so ever. At least I know that I am pretty close to passing, it's just a matter of reviewing for me to be honest. I know I aced all the simulations I had as they were pretty easy. I had 4 simulation question 2 on permissions and 2 on AD. The thing that made me fail is implementing disaster recovery such setting up of backups, etc. I am really weak in that area, I always have and since I don't really implement it at work (the network admin does) I don't really have experiene. So I pretty much know what I have to do. I am weak in regards to disaster recovery so I just have to study it, everything else I am pretty good at.

Anyways I will reschedule the exam for two weeks from now and hopefully pass with some studying. Good thing I have the second shot coupon!

Hard luck prof! like you say you are close - but remember next time you could get totally different questions so dont rely too much on just backups go over everything one more time - think an ideal resource for you could be an exam cram just refreshen up and practice practice practice!! Good luck for next time!
