    Hi Guys,

Its been a long time since my last post so hello again, I am looking for some advice as i would like to have a play with an ASA 5505 and have found one quite cheap on ebay with a 50 user licence.

My question is regarding placement and firewall mode.

I have a sky internet connection so am forced to use there router unless I do some hacking to extract the username and password from the router. So what I am planning is the following

Internet > Sky modem/router> ASA > rest of network

On the sky router I cannot see any way to put it into bridged mode so the sky router will have to handle NAT

I was thinking if i put the ASA in Transparent mode then I dont need to worry about Double NAT or anything like that but i have read that in transparent mode the ASA looses some of its functions and they are better suited in routed mode.

Would it be worth setting it up in routed mode and putting it in the DMZ on the sky router and what kind of issues would that cause.
