I agree that experience always counts for more. I was simply adding that certifications can only increase the chances of getting noticed.

All that said, SureShot doesn't have ANY real-world IT experience... he's working in telecom, looking to break INTO IT. He's not there yet... thus, he has no experience.

I read somewhere that he was doing PC support for home users lol

 

I re-read it just now, myself... he is doing that, but he's self-employed... thus, no verifiable business references to endorse his experience level. Sure, he can provide a customer list... but that could just as easily be "Uncle Fred" verifying his abilities. Just sayin' that if he hasn't actually worked in IT for a company before, his experience, though valid, will be held in some level of suspicion by some hiring managers. And that's exactly why I think the A+ could only benefit him, as he's looking to make his first jump into an IT job working for a company.

 

It sometimes takes a good debate to make things clear.
