"Let" is something you wouldn't be able to control, my friend. If they want to stay up all night building servers, I'm not going to stop them if that's what they enjoy doing.

Would I TELL them to come in all day long? Of course not. Would I make them work more than 40 hours a week? Not usually, no. Would I encourage them to go home? Of course. But I probably won't force them to.

I'd rather go home to my wife and kids, but not everyone is that way. As you say, "each to their own".

That said, I'm not gonna hire someone because they're a scuba diver, love hockey, or enjoy computer games.

I used to love it, dont have that much time anymore but once im sorted would love to start again :)

Haha I'm not either, to many Mcdonalds LOL.

Also I agree 100% Companies know the differnce between a general person that generally wants the job with a honest c.v thats relatively modest but states that he knows his stuff. Opposed to a cv that states he has no life and can barely leave his computer to communicate with the outside world. If that was a job that included home visits / phone support do you really think he would win it compared to someone that knows his stuff and has experience in social activites so can communicate well with users face to face and over the telephone.

Hey the "let" part if its on our property or 8 until 6 is definitely under my control believe me. If I tell them to go home their going home ha ha I more force my lot to have a life I like to think :D

I agree with you mate, hobbies won't get you the job, but I find the more and more my place is expecting me to review CV's, attend interviews etc, I like that little personal touch. Maybe I'm just going soft in my old age, that is a definite possibility I have to say since my little boy came along :biggrin

    Hi GB,

Put your skills and experience down as these should be your main selling points including good customer and communications skills. I think as others have rightly stated express your personal achievement as when the opportunity presents itself in an interview.

Best wishes and remember you can go as far as you want to in life regardless of peoples opinion. Well, to a certain degree that is anyway:)

As Fergal said, if it's not relevant to the job then don't put it on, unless of course the job you're trying for is one with care services or similar.

    Hey ferg, and recommendations??

    On takeaways that is.

The rest of you get your minds out of the gutter.

Thanks for that, I did think it wouldn't be right in putting it.

    That's what I figured.
