Heres a cheery little item that landed in my inbox today.

I was left with a number of thoughts running through my head after reading this:

    1) Christ I'm glad I don't work for France Telecom
    2) Maybe my jobs not as bad as I thought it was
    3) Darrens been looking stressed lately....

    Hi
I am an Analyst for the Police.

In the past 6 months I have worked out an average of 8 rail related suicides a week here in UK.

    Here are my thoughts

    • DO NOT CALL THE POLICE BEFORE HAND

    • DO NOT CALL BEST FRIENDS TO TELL THEM WHAT YOURE DOING

    • MAN UP AND JUST DO IT - GET IT OVER AND DONE WITH

    • POLICE, FRIENDS AND FAMILY WILL FIND OUT SOON ENOUGH ANYWAY

    • DONT USE TRAINS AS THIS AFFECTS OTHER HUMAN BEINGS TRANSPORT AND CAUSES HUGE HASSLES FOR OUR COMMUTE

    BEST WAY TO KILL YOURSELF:
    • GET DRUNK (VERY DRUNK) SWALLOW 2 OR 3 FULL BOX OF NUROPHANE PLUS
    • CARRY ON DRINKING UNTIL YOU FALL A SLEEP AND DIE
    • PAINLESS AND CLEAN
    • DOESNT AFFECT OTHERS DAY TO DAY LIFES

Hmm, thanks for that. I think that without this advice there would have been maybe an average of 6 per week.

thanks nugget and i understand that i sound like an a hole but seriously - its their life innit so we all should take control of said life. irrelevent of the circumstances; if you feel you need to take your own life then just do it and do it with as much pride as you can (even know what youre doing is prideless) HAHA.

No problem mate. I was just taking the piss as I'm sort of going through a down patch at the moment. I do agree with you though, if you're going to do it then just go and do it without all the BS and affecting everybody else.

Things are never so bad that you should just kill yourself, although it might seem like there's no other way out at the time. If anyone here ever gets suicidal thoughts, talk to me first. There IS a better way, I promise you. :)

This is the biggest non-story I've ever seen. The suicide rate at France Telecom is such an infinitesimally smaller amount higher than the national average in France that it's statistically insignificant. Absolute, utter bollocks - but heartening proof that it isn't just the UK media that sensationalises irrelevant events and coincidences and passes hearsay, conjecture and gossip off as hard fact.

I'm all in favour of the suicide booths that they have in Futurama.
Find one on a street corner, pop a coin in and away you go.

Maybe France telecom has started making them now that the bottom has fallen out of the phone box market and they just forgot to tell their staff.

    Could just be a misunderstanding...
