    Hello there,

I'm trying desperately to get into IT (see my other thread http://www.certforums.co.uk/forums/thread20137.html ) As I'm only just starting out on my A+, is there any way I could get a work placement opportunity, are there agencies out there that specialise in that area. Also to the more experienced/manager IT guys would you take on someone like me in a work placement role to see how I develop.

    As always thanks i advance.

I assume you mean like an "internship" or something. I'm not familiar with how things work in the UK, but my understanding of job placement or internship gigs is that they're more common in educational institutions than through job agencies. You *can* volunteer for an IT position. A lot of times, non-profit and charitable organizations need someone to maintain their machines but don't have the money to pay. It's a way to get experience and add that to your CV.

You could try helpdesk jobs, or if you can afford try working for a charity as a volunteer.

There are companies out there that provide work placement, but as I'm in the US, I don't know of any to recommend in the UK.

Would I take on someone like you for a work placement role? Sure, why not? That's how plenty of people get their start in IT. :)

Well its a pity I dont live in the US, I could ask you for a job!!

Bruce, I'm looking at helpdesk jobs at the moment but its the usual "must have experience", even one's listed as "junior" so thats why I was looking at work placement. I could prob afford to not work for a month, but ideally it would be with a company that could then offer me a job at the end of it.
