    Hi All

Over the past 8 years, I've worked from home with onsite visits to my customers. The last time I had a desk in an office was when I was a server engineer in 2014. We used to have great banter and we learned a lot sitting across from each other. It was good to be able to go for a coffee if a customer had given us an ear bashing over a server going down or a problem with their systems.

Working from home I save travel money, I can get my kids from school at times, and over the past two years I've only been onsite twice due to the pandemic. Its very flexible but I do feel like I hardly leave the house through the week sometimes, and I have put weight on eating when I'm bored.

Where do you work and what do you think? It seems like WFH is the new standard for all of us, especially after the pandemic. It also feels like being in an office is a luxury most companies won't do any more. There's pros and cons to each I think so a hybrid would be best although I think my definition of a hybrid now would be to work in the office one day a month, and to try to organise my team mates to come in the same day as me otherwise its likely I'll be there on my own!

    100% Wfh!

    1. No Commute and save money on an unreliable service,
    2. Better mental health. If I get a bit stressed about something, I can take a walk with the dogs,
    3. Better work / life balance,
    4. Not so much interaction with colleagues,
    5. More freedom to get down the Gym or go for a run (on lunch),
    6. More productive at home that at work.
So for me personally, Id 100% be wfh.

    WFH for me as well.

Its a no brainer, I can do everything here and more. At my place most people are back, however its a bit different with me as I wont have the covid vaccine and I am immuno suppressed.

I speak to my team via teams or email and there has never been any issue with me getting contacted or me being able to contact people when I need them. One thing I notice when I am speaking via teams, is the amount of noise that's in the office, its just mental. Fitness wise, thats actually gone up, I get in 2 walks a day, up around 5.30 am, can take a break whenever, can focus more on certain tasks, this wasn't the case when I used to go to the office. You had the phone ringing, people chattering and then people coming asking questions when in the middle of things

I want to carry on with the WFH, it just makes sense for me.

Unfortunately WFH for me is an exception rather than the norm. During the lockdown and WFH I found I was more productive, happier and worked longer hours than on site.

I’m sorry they don’t give you more choice on the matter mate.
I suppose what I struggle with WFH is the separation. I’ve just worked a few extra hours tonight. I love my job, but I am working too much. I should be more disciplined but lately that’s gone out of the window for me

I like to work out of the office. I used to spend a lot of nerves and time to get to the office. standing in traffic jams by car. And a few years ago I decided not to work in the office anymore. I was advised some games on the website -, where you can play in your free time and you play money. I think this is a great and convenient option for those who are tired of the main job.

TBH, I would rather work hybrid - due to the nature of my job. The policies and planning, would be so much more productive without people interrupting. However as I'm a hands on IT Manager, so also do helpdesk jobs, there are times when I have to visit our customers :(

WFH if I had the choice but currently working in the office – not liking it.

Similar story for me – when I was senior engineer the helpdesk guys were in the same office as me and we had some good banter. The screen mounted on the wall for call stats was often changed to Sky sports news on a Friday so we could get the build up to the Saturday games – good times :)

I think as well when you're an engineer, learning from each other in that environment is great isn't it. Feels like a luxury these days that

I've been WFH since 2016, I love it, I go in to the office to see staff once a quarter or so. WFH has not slowed my career down at all.

I'm feeling that I'm the most productive working at home. Don't know why

  13. And I like working in an office better. Working with colleagues offline, you can complete any tasks more quickly.
