as rafaz said you need 515 for Hardware. There are lots of things you need to know but things like CPU's DMA, IRQ and I/O addresses come up a lot but realisticly you can get questions on anything... just read as much Meyers as you can and go for it!

Do i also need to know all sockets and which cpu fit in there with what fsb speed? i did the irq / dma today and it is easy but do i have to know all i/o from each IRQ number or just the i/o about the com 1,2,3,4 and lpt1 and lpt2?
cant find other i/o in my books

    thx Jurgen

I would say you should know wich sockets fit what, L1 and L2 caches and what package they came in.

As for I/O's etc I'd say it was in this order of importance

    1. Com and LPT settings
    2. Free IRQ's
    3. Assigned IRQ's
    4. Other stuff

jeez, thats a crappy diagram. If your happy to spend a little money that I'd HIGHLY suggest you splash out on VNP's A+ test prep software as I found it to be the most like the real test and the scores I got on it reflected what I actually got in the exams where as meyers stuff I never got the magic 80% and all the free test you get are rubbish!

    http://www.vista-net.com/aplus.htm

cost about £12 after conversion from Dollars. I found it really good as it told me the areas I was weak in and I crammed those areas really hard before my exam.
